Sen. Evan Bayh (via memeorandum):
"[I]f I could create one job in the private sector by helping to grow a business, that would be one more than Congress has created in the last six months."
OK, it's not an identical statement, but the gist of both is the same. Government doesn't create jobs; private initiative does.
A cautionary note: Though Bayh has ruled it out for now, expressing this view may not help him if he intends to run for President. In the end, Sen. Vinick lost to Rep. Santos.
