Judge Goldstone has felt the need to write another op-ed for The Jerusalem Post. He opens his remarks with:
Five weeks after the release of the Report of the Fact Finding Mission on Gaza, there has been no attempt by any of its critics to come to grips with its substance.Wow! This is simply a gross error of humongous proportions.
Read the whole thing--we already know that Judge Goldstone hasn'tInitial Response to Report of the Fact Finding Mission on Gaza Established Pursuant to Resolution S-9/1 of the Human Rights Council...The initial comments set out in this paper are not a comprehensive account of the errors and distortions in the Report. Rather these comments identify some of the most troubling tendencies and implications of the Report and the process that produced it, both for Israel and for any nation involved in armed conflict with terrorist organizations, under the following headings:.
- The Mandate of the Mission
- The Composition and Conduct of the Mission
- Selection of Incidents
- Evidentiary double standards
- Misrepresentations of law and fact
- Simplistic approaches to complex military challenges
- Minimizing terrorist threats - and vindicating terrorist tactics
- Legal and Pseudo-legal findings
- Dismissal of national investigations and legal systems
- One-Sided Recommendations
- The Mandate

Five weeks after the release of responses to the Report of the Fact Finding Mission on Gaza, there has been no attempt by any of its critics to come to grips with its substance.Yeah, that must be what he meant.

At this point frankly I'm shocked and angered that JPost would give ink to someone immaterially different from Hamas.
Posted by: Empress Trudy at October 19, 2009 3:22 PMGoldstone has the right to his opinion. But its revealing his group paid only cursory attention to Israel's side of the story, which the UNHRC proceeded to ignore altogether. The country that fought to stop Hamas aggression was finally found at fault for stopping it!

True, but as Daniel Patrick Moynihan said--you are entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts.

Whatever else you may think of him, Judge Goldstone is not a terrorist.
More importantly, his recent comments have offered a solid source of criticism of him, his report, and (as if there were a dearth of material) the UNHRC.
Posted by: Daled Amos at October 19, 2009 7:32 PMDaled - we're on the same wavelength. And Goldstone is a morally confused man but not someone evil. Its clear the UNHRC used him for their own ends.
Posted by: NormanF at October 19, 2009 9:26 PMWhy would a well-known supporter of Israel have accepted that mandate if it were biased against Israel?
Posted by: sass at October 19, 2009 10:28 PMwhy should goldstone even consider answering the zionist propoganda machine. how can you compare goldstone ,who actual went to gaza and did a independent investigation to some bloggers sitting thousands of miles away in front of a computer .
so according to the pro israel bloggers amesty is wrong, HWR wrong, all the israeli and international NGOs wrong and now the UN report written by a supporter of israel[goldstone] is also wrong. but the army of bloggers, who's job is to defend israel and attack any one who doesn't toe the line ,are correct- its not goldstone who is desperate but the purblind orthodoxy who actual believe this nonsense.
Soccerdad has more credibility than a report coming from sources coerced by hamas terrorists into making false allegations against the IDF. As for Goldstone being a supporter of Israel, that is laughable.
