Vahidi, as the article itself points out, is wanted by Interpol for the AMIA bombing:
New Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi on Sunday described the strong vote of confidence given by the Iranian MPs to him as a good response to the Zionist regime's psychological war against the Islamic Republic of Iran.At IRIB, we learn that Lebanese Shi'ite leader who-of-course-has-no-connection-to-Hezbollah Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah is similarly concerned about "western media warfare":"The parliament's high confidence vote (to me as Iran's defense minister) shows the Iranian MPs' emphasis on the strengthening of the Islamic Iran's defense power and development of its deterrence power," Vahidi said.
He further underlined that the move by the Iranian lawmakers "defused the world Zionists' negative propaganda and psycho war" against Iran.
Iranian lawmakers voted overwhelmingly on Thursday for President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's pick for defense minister, with 227 MPs casting their ballots in favor of Vahidi.
Western and Israeli media reports claimed that Mr. Vahidi is wanted by Interpol in connection with the 1994 bombing of a Jewish cultural center in Buenos Aires (AMIA), which left 85 dead and wounded more than 300 others.
Iran has strongly denied the allegations, saying Alberto Nisman, the prosecutor of the case, has received huge sums of money from Jewish lobby groups in Argentina to accuse Tehran of the bombing.
Lebanese Shii leader Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadhlallah said some regional and international powers are engaged in media warfare against Islam which is more dangerous than military warfare.Aha! That's why the Supreme Leader has been meeting with poets:In a meeting with IRIB delegates, Fadhallah urged Islamic media fight back by producing cultural products.
"By using new technologies and (mastering) art, Islamic media should produce programs which are authentic and credible so as to boost unity among Muslims and fight superstitious beliefs." [...]
[...] Ayatollah Khamenei approved recent poetic developments and said, "Everything (in today's poetry); its diction, meaning, rhythm, choice of words, and imagery are signs of a fruitful movement in the poetry of our country."The article, entitled "Goals of our revolution are like bright stars," is accompanied by a swell picture of the Supreme Leader (actually an animated gif, but you'll have to go here to see it in action.):The leader of Islamic Revolution referred to post-revolution (1979) poetry as a continuous movement towards new heights in poetry and said, "The poetry of revolution has successfully passed the exams and should continue this way till it achieves all the goals of the revolution."
"The goals of our revolution are like bright stars, high in the sky. They show us where to fly," Ayatollah Khamenei added. [...]

Posted by Judeopundit at September 6, 2009 3:18 PMIran discovered a long time ago that the best way to get arrest warrants for murderous psychopaths erased is to simply elect them to high office. Then, the west will fall over itself apologizing to them so as not to appear bigoted. Nothing at all will happen to Vahidi in fact he will meet with world leaders starting now. It wouldn't shock me if he's given a platform to address the UN Security Council, which, as you must know, will give a permanent seat to Iran the day they announce they are a nuclear power.
The funny thing is that when the few survivors in the west are permitted to convert to Islam and sharia or face extermination, they genuinely will not understand how they wound up in that spot and why their pleasant platitudes didn't appease the Islamists. The West is finished and just doesn't know it yet.
Posted by: Empress Trudy at September 6, 2009 7:10 PMThe West thinks Islam is the Religion Of Peace. It couldn't be more wrong. It doesn't understand Iran embraces terrorists and mass murderers because that is Islam in action. A truly peaceful religion would shun them. Islam is anything but peaceful.
