This week's Watcher's council nominations are up along with fine commentary by the Watcher himself.

Why pay $10 for Julie & Julia just to suffer gratuitous insults - Bookworm Room finds the movie tolerable except for one unnecessary line - which sinks the whole film betraying a disrespect that had no place in the movie.

How Obama & Co. think we're stupid - as The Colossus of Rhodey writes it's bad enough that they're trying to push through unpopular measures but when they deny that they're doing what they claim they're doing at other times, they're playing us for fools.

What's going on with Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, and America? - Right Truth writes about the obliviousness of our political class to disturbing trends in the Muslim world.

The Issue With the Public Option - The Glittering Eye writes about the problem with the public option and, more importantly, observes that a number of states are considering similar plans. That they haven't done so yet, shows that the politicians in those states understand the weakness with the public option and that's a lesson that national politicians are likely also taking to heart.

California Dems Increase Salaries Of Personal Staff, Refuse To Release New Payroll Details - Mere Rhetoric mocks California's legislature for its rank incompetence.

Texas Textbook Controversy - Rhymes with Right observes that a recent controversy, is not so controversial.

A Stunning ACORN Revelation - The Provocateur - who keeps us better informed about the doings of ACORN than the MSM - reports that a new revelation about the group exposes its extraordinary level of corruption.

Obama Vs CIA: New WH Interrogation Unit Created As Panetta Threatens To Resign - Joshuapundit sorts through the implications of a recent administration proposal.

In my post Kindness to the cruel
I look at the attitude behind the freeing of Megrahi to spend his final
days at home and see another manifestation of it in another bit of
recent news.

My non-council nomination this week is Welcome home Scott Speicher by Ocean Guy, a moving tribute to a fallen hero.

Read. Enjoy, Be informed.

Hollywood just can't help itself. It has a compulsion to slip in gratuitous insults against conservatives and Republicans even when it has absolutely no relation to the movie itself. Another new movie, but I forget which one, takes a cheap shot at Sarah Palin.
