Council nominations are up!

Informed Votes - Wolf Howling argues that it hurts democracy to have lawmakers who are ignorant of the laws they pass. He's right.

President Obama Awards Medal of Freedom To Prominent 'Anti-Zionists' - Joshuapundit gives us the profiles in obsequiousness of Mary Robinson and Desmond Tutu, who are being honored by President Obama. Fortunately some Democratic partisans are seeing this as a mistake however Ira Forman of the NJDC says:

"With a major battle to ensure every American has access to health care, delicate negotiations to further the peace process in the Middle East and the battle to deny Iran a nuclear capacity, don't we as a community have more critical issues to focus on?"

The problem as far as the second priority Forman mentions is that honoring someone who played a significant role in questioning Israel's legitimacy suggests that the administration isn't much bothered by such activities. If that's the case it can hardly be counted on to be an impartial arbiter.

Profiling vs. perception - The Colossus of Rhodey critiques a charge made by General Colin Powell about being profiled. He observes that Gen. Powell was offended because he wished to be offended, not because he was slighted.

SAVE THE DATE: 9 April 2010 - Right Truth informs us about a commemoration of fallen American soldiers.

Don't Renew "Cash for Clunkers" - The Glittering Eye dissects the "Cash for clunkers" program and explains why the program itself is a pretty big clunker, unworthy of being renewed.

Seeing inside someone's soul -- and finding a blogburst - Bookworm Room shows how a picture can be worth 1000 words and reveal a really bad attitude.

The "Hunt" for a Buyer - The Razor notes fallout in his area from the economic crisis and collapse of the housing market. Robert Samuelson wrote a similar column in early 2008.<

Progressive Democrats To Palin: Get Back In The Kitchen - Mere Rhetoric shows how intolerant the progressive Left is of a strong woman.

Worth every penny of "free." - This week I wrote about Thomas Friedman's recent column in which he offered free advice. It was reheated Thomas Friedman analysis, leaving out any inconvenient facts. So it was worth every penny.<

My non-council nominee this week was The Optimistic Conservative's Tell me again, an argument for keeping health care pretty much as it is now.

Read. Enjoy. Be informed.
