The j-blogosphere this week

Haveil Havalim is up at Frum Satire.

There's also the second annual J-blogger conference coming up in Jerusalem next month.

What I'd love to see discussed is how the J-blogosphere can become more relevant. But it won't happen if everyone is looking to go "to the next level" by themselves. The biggest thing the j-blogosphere could do to help itself is for j-bloggers to link to other j-bloggers regularly. That means using a pool of maybe 5 - 10 other bloggers. If some of them have written about a topic that you have, then link to them. Even if it's nothing more than "Here's what xxxxx had to say." Links are the currency of the blogosphere but it's very lacking in the j-blogosphere. No it won't necessarily improve the traffic for the linker immdediately, but I believe that it will have a positive effect on the j-blogosphere as a whole.

During Israel's Gaza war against Hamas in December and January I noticed a lot of pro-Israel j-blogs showing up in memeorandum. Memeorandum is now getting squeezed by professional blogs. By linking to others you improve the chances of individual independent blogs becoming part of the general blogging conversation.

I disagree. I think the links help the blog immediately. As soon as you start linking to others, your own numbers go up. Since I started my "interesting posts" daily series, a totally unexpected consequence is that my numbers jumped. I only link to 5-7 posts per day in that post, and people come to my site just to see what good posts I linked to.
So even if you want to do so for selfish reasons, linking to others is a good reason.

I agree with you that jblogs dont link enough. I particularly try to link mainly to smaller blogs, to give them exposure.

Maybe it is worth starting a Watcher's Council for the Jblogosphere.
