The two edged digital sword

In The Revolution will be Digitized, LGF makes an interesting point.

When the regime's thugs open fire on a crowd, the video hits the net within minutes. It's more difficult for despots to do their dirty work when the world is watching.

The revolution will be digitized.

It's an encouraging thought, but it may not be the last word. Michael Rubin at NRO observed:

Rather than simply bang heads as they did in 1999, incidents of which can spark further protest, they try to take photographs and then over the course of days and weeks, to arrest participants. Even if the situation calms, expect a lot of disappearances in coming days.

Of course, if the Iranian regime is not especially afraid of foreign reporters, will it be afraid of its homegrown activists?
