At 1:15 AM this morning she turned 144 weeks old!

The transformation from baby to little girl continues.

It's harder and harder to view her as a baby.

More and more she asks to walk on her own instead of being carried.

If I hold another baby - like my nephew - and she sees, it won't take long before she's at my feet demanding that I pick her up. Or if our seven year old sits on my lap, she'll be over to demand her place too.

One of the more interesting developments is her recognition of the power of speech. She's learned that if we want her to do something, we tell her what to do. So a few weeks ago when I was eating and walking around the living room, she informed me that I shouldn't eat there and that I should go to the kitchen. Shortly afterwards she told her 7 year old sister to clean up her toys.

Cleaning, interestingly, is an area where she distinguishes herself. It's often difficult to get some of her older siblings to clean up after themselves. But she actually seems to like cleaning up. Once when her Imma told everyone else to help clean up, she got upset because she wanted to!

We are now going through a "why" stage. Everything that happens is subject to a "why?" You can of course, address her curiosity, but that will only elicit another "why."

When her 7 year old sister had a friend over the other day, she of course wanted to play with the older girls. Even if we want to pretend that she's a baby, she wants to pretend that she's a big girl. I suppose that, now, it's fair to say that she's somewhat in between. And of course we're enjoying every minute of it!
