Council speak 02/22/09

This week's Watcher's Council results are UP!

The winning entry was Joshuapundit's Obama's Model - And No, It's Not FDR, showing that we don't have to go back in history to find a model for President Obama, we just have to look in the right place. There were two runners up this week. The first was a fascinating story A Battle For Small Government in Cheboygan County, Mi. as reported by The Provocateur. The other was my own What could be worse than Hamas?, an examination of the Washington Post's attitudes regarding two elections in Israel. Thanks!

On the non-council side, the winning entry was American Digest's A House Divided A Century and a Half Later: What Lincoln Would Say Were He Speaking Today. The runner up was Geert Wilders and the Fight for Europe by Bat Yeor in the NRO.

Congratulations to all the winners!

In addition to the Watcher's Council, several of us are asked to participate in weekly National Journal polls. The two most recent polls were about bipartisanship and early grades on the performances of the President and Congress.
(If you're interested you can see how political insiders responded to these two polls, respectively.)

I would like to thank Tom Madigan at the National Journal for including and encouraging me. I don't know that I've been correct in anything I've written, but I think I'm starting to learn the fine art of the soundbyte.

Robert Miller aka Freedom Fighter aka JoshuaPundit has taken over editing duties of Webloggin', which includes contributions from a number of Watcher's Council members, so if you like the Watcher's Council, you might want to check out Webloggin'.

Finally, Trip, the Watcher himself is suggesting an irregular feature called Weasel Watching. The idea is to highlight irksome Weasels and give them a well-deserved 15 minutes of infamy. His first dis-honoree, is someone named Stephen Fowler.

And you though that the Watcher's council only voted!
