At 1:15 AM this morning she turned 127 weeks old!
She continues to figure out the world around her.
Last week when we were putting her to bed, she surprised me by "reading" "Brown bear, Brown bear." It seems like she memorized most of the book and recognized which lines went with each page. We have a book of opposites and she also knows that one pretty well. When she sees words she'll often point to them and call them "ABCD." (And yes she can sing the ABC song.)
More and more, she's starting to say the words correctly, even if she used to mispronounce them regularly. She doesn't ask to "suggle," but to "snuggle." Usually it's when it's about bed time. She'll hand me a book and tell me that she wants to snuggle. We find a bed or couch and lean back together and read.
Her 10 year old brother has decided that sometimes he stinks. Instead of using deodorant the way it's meant to be used, he'll create a cloud and walk through it. She's learned what it's about. Last week she saw a can of my deoderant and said, "Abba stinks."
She can be very creative. One night at dinner she pretended to pour Mandel (croutons) into her hand and eat them.
Her most requested food is yogurnt (or "oh-gurt.") Since we generally keep the yogurts in the downstairs refrigerator, she's developed a ritual. She goes down with one of us (siblings too!) and picks one out to eat.
More and more we're learning how to set limits. (Or was I supposed to write, "More and more she's learning to deal with 'no?'") It's not easy because she's so cute and if she wants something, well who wants a cute child to cry? But she's also learning to deal with refusal a bit better too. Sometimes we can offer her alternatives. And sometimes we have to put up with a crying two year old.
Overall she is very happy. She like to play hide and seek. Since her 7 year old sister often likes to hide before going to sleep, she's started hiding. She'll go into the closet, when I'm already in the room. Then I pretend I don't know where she is until she comes out smiling. She likes to sit on my shoulders. Sometimes I'll pretend that I don't know where she is and she'll bend over with a big smile on her face.
