Submitted 01/22/09

This week's Watcher's Council submissions are UP!

Israel Capitulates - Joshuapundit directs his anger at the Israeli government that has failed to press its advantages. The first cartoon here, is quite appropriate.

And Where Does He Get His Life Back? - Rhymes With Right writes about a disturbing case where a teacher was charged with and tried for improper behavior with a female student. He was acquitted. Reputations, though, aren't so easily fixed.

Fallacy of Composition
- The Glittering Eye observes that the mortgage crisis mostly hit three states, yet the Federal government is looking at a national remedy. He suggests that the government look, instead, at solving the problem where it is most severe. JoshuaPundit responds that he expects the feds to throw money at the problem without addressing some of the underlying causes.

Seeds of Destruction - The Razor writes about the perils of single party rule.

I'm Going To Miss Westminster Abbey - Britain Hands Itself Over To Radical Islam, Blames Israel - Mere Rhetoric points to anohter example of British deference to Islamists. The problem is not new.

The entertainment of moral ambiguity - The Colossus of Rhodey works off of an essay by actor Dirk Benedict to critique the current incarnation of Battlestar Galactica and very skillfully turns it into an indictment of the mindset that finds Israel equated with the terrorists of Hamas and Fatah. See this related essay.

The Inspirational President - Bookworm Room agrees with liberals that President Obama is inspirational. She acknowledges that though she sees the term that as a criticism, liberals see it as praise. The Glittering has a pithy observation. Remember that Clinton was "The man from Hope."

U.N. Complicity Behind Shelling of its Compound - Cheat-Seeking Missiles marshals the evidence that the UN covers up for the terrorists of Hamas. It's not an isolated incident.

Obama, he's only human - Right Truth writes about the hype surrounding the inauguration of Barack Obama as President.

The Insider Story of ACORN
- The Provocateur provides a comprehensive look at the web of intrigue that is ACORN. It's the sort of thing every MSM outlet should do, but won't. (They will cover ACORN, but they'll simply present it as an organization that tries to give the disenfranchised an opportunity to vote.

Teaching Thomas
- I critiqued a column by Thomas Friedman that called on Israel to "teach" Hamas a lesson, but not to destroy it.

My non-council submission for the week was Did Monty Python Negotiate Israel's Ceasefire? Speaking of which ...

Read. Enjoy. Be informed.
