This week's Watcher's council nominations are up!
Emory's Corrupt Broken Record - The Provocateur writes about a case of corruption at Emory University. If you ever wonder why there are so many crooked politicians, it's because of the vast amount of other people's money they have to work with. On the other side that money - available for all sorts of worthy projects is awfully tempting - and corrupting - to the beneficiaries of those monies. This case illustrates how the governments ability to grant corrupted a university.
Obama Policy Speech In Muslim World? - Rhymes With Right writes about President-elect Obama's intent to speak at a Muslim capital some time during his first 100 days in office. RwR is correct to suggest that Obama ought to use the the time to promote freedom. However Obama makes it clear that the speech is more likely to be an apology than a lecture.
Ayers' life was just a joyous, misunderstood frolic - The Weather Underground had "work accidents?" Who knew. That's one of the points Bookworm Room emphasized in her fisking of Ayers most recent selective recollection of his supposedly innocent past.
Those 'ol "hate crimes" again - This one's kind of nostalgic for me, as I first encountered The Colossus of Rhodey.Hube, in a different incarnatin, over the subject of hate crimes. In this week's entry he comments on the latest attempt by the AADC to expand the definition of a hate crime.
Ron Gettelfinger Must Go! - Who's Ron Gettelfinger? Cheat-Seeking Missiles has the answer. Like anyone else with lots of money and influence riding on a government decision he is, of course, pushing for the government action that benefits himself the most, rather than the one that would be best for the nation.
Wisdom and Risk - The Glittering Eye looks at the newspaper industry and its current turmoil.
The Obama Enigma - The Razor comments on President-elect Obama's so far apparently moderate cabinet picks. He points out that this was hardly expected given Obama's ties to radical politics. Even though he acknowledges that Obama's political ties in the past may have the expedient thing to do, The Razor still expects him to govern from the Left.
The Message Of Mumbai - Joshuapundit sees the terror attack two weeks ago as a symptom of a greater problem India. For relevant reading on how little the West has learned, see Still Asleep after Mumbai by Daniel Pipes.
Chicago Politics Just Got Dirtier - What, you didn't think it was possible? Right Truth provides the evidence.
Jonesing for jones - My entry this week fisks an op-ed by David Ignatius who is quite enamored with President-elect Obama's choice to be National Security Adviser.
My non-council entry this week is the Terror Wonk's Mumbai Style Attack in the US: A Skeptical Analysis, which explains why a repeat of Mumbai is unlikely to occur on our shores.
Read. Enjoy. Be informed.

Shouldn't it be the muslim world who wants to repair its image and apologize to us? This is what bothers me about Obama and the kind of mindset that sees America as the problem instead of the jihadists.
