This week's Council Submissions are up.
- Rhymes With Right - In The Aftermath Of Ike - The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly - Rhymes with Right looks at the best and worst of human behavior in the wake of Ike. And the worst of government actions.
- Joshuapundit - The Crap Sandwich - Joshuapundit doesn't pull any punches in his criticism of the bailout bill that Congress failed to pass. I thought that Larry Kudlow explained why it was worth taking the bad with the good, but as JoshuaPundit pointed out, even without a bill the stock market recovered, raising questions as to how essential the bill was. (Now the Senate has passed a similar bill - with "sweeteners," having nothing to do with the credit crisis. Please tell me what tax deductions for treating "mental health" conditions have to do with the bailout.
- Wolf Howling - A Doddering Fool - Wolf Howling singles out Sen. Dodd for special censure for his role in preventing reform and taking advantage of his position to get favorable terms for his mortgage. "Not part of the solution" would be a good description.
- Bookworm Room - When God closes a door, he sometimes opens a window - Considers what ought to be called a valuable life.
- The Colossus of Rhodey - I thought the Left wanted to talk about issues? - Colossus of Rhodey.Hube deflates the issue of Sen. McCain's cars. And btw, Rep. Rangel also has kept a car in the House garage in violation of rules. And no, it's not American made, it's a Benz.
- Hillbilly White Trash - The little messiah unleashes his freikorps - HIllbilly White Trash questions Sen. Obama's legal efforts against critics.
- The Glittering Eye - System Failure - The Glittering Eye shares his thoughts on the financial crisis. Do I understand it much better? No, but it's still a very entertaining read.
- Soccer Dad - McCain's role - Given that the House bill failed, I find myself having written a post that was obsolete in short order. Still I think I did highlight that McCain actually worked to accomplish something, while his opponent worked on his debating skills.
- Cheat-Seeking Missiles - McCain's Needed New Messaging Strategy - Cheat Seeking Missiles has helpful advice on how McCain ought to refocus his message(s).
My non-council submission asks if Congress is Learning from History at Q & O. Specifically, will Congress learn from Chile's history and look for a more free market approach. If the Senate's example means anything, the answer is "no."
Read, Enjoy. Be Informed.
