Crape carnival 2008

Recently we went to a wedding in Cleveland. We spent a little time there the next day before heading home. So we checked out the Botanical Gardens in Cleveland. They had a crape myrtle there.

I can't say that's all that impressive. But if you haven't seen a crape myrtle, here are a few.

It would be one thing if say they had just planted it last year like UU-Mom did. That's a great start, and I'm sure next year it will be even nicer.

In Context has a lavender one in addition to the standard issue pink ones.

Rubicon3 only saw one of her 4 crapes bloom. But the one that bloomed did really nicely.

Anyway here are more pictures of our crapes. (I should have mentioned that according to the Cleveland Botanical garden, crapes are native to Asia. It wasn't clear how they got to the U.S.)

And a really nice one against the sky.

As always, I'd be very happy to link to more crapes. Feel free to leave a comment or e-mail at dhgerstman at hotmail dot com.

UPDATE: And a final one from today.

It's already shedding it's flowers. The summer's end is approaching.
