This week's Watcher's Council nominations are up at the home of the new Watcher. Check 'em out.

The 2008 Beijing Olympics

The Glittering Eye - strips away the glamorous facade of Olympic China and hopes that someday China's greatness will be more authentic than what was on display during the games.

The AP shows surprising honesty when it comes to Joe Biden

Bookworm Room finds the AP's candor towards Joe Biden refreshing, especially as it surprisingly shows what a weak choice as VP Biden is.

Russia - The New Cold War

The Razor takes a look at the forces that led to the current crisis with Russia over Georgia. While not letting Russia off the hook he argues that the U.S. and NATO have taken steps - such as recognizing an independent Kosovo that have exacerbated - the tensions.

Biden Off More Than He Can Chew

Joshua Pundit - strips away the layers of gravitas that others have thrown up to protect Joe Biden and shows how the pick fails to accomplish the goals it most likely was meant to achieve. (More to the point, it might very well be counterproductive to those goals.)

What Does Joe Biden Offer To Obama?

Wolf Howling goes looks at Sen. Biden's record in even more depth than JoshuaPundit. He notes that rather than being pragmatic on policy grounds, he is more pragmatic on political grounds. Therefore his vote in support of the war in Iraq should be viewed a politically expedient, not insightful. His criticism of Biden and his role in keeping Amtrak afloat, is also covered by VeepCritique. Fort Totten Weekly doesn't view Biden's support of Amtrak negatively at all. And overall, I liked Fred Barnes's analysis of the pick.

NBC's Andrea Mitchell Thinks Joe Biden is 'Not Part of Washington'

Colossus of Rhodey does away with one pretense surrounding Sen. Biden, that he's somehow a "Washington outsider."

Not Every POW Supports McCain

Rhymes With Right finds a member of a minority - a Viet Nam era POW, who does not support John McCain. However, he also notes the organizational affiliation of said veteran.

North Coast - Day 5: Bookworm Revealed!

Cheat-Seeking Missiles heads north, engages in some BMW activities and reveals a member of the Watcher's Council. She looks exactly as I would have expected.

Charm city charm offensive

I write about the way the Obama campaign uses ridicule instead persuasion to try and change people's minds, especially as this tactic has been applied toward the Jewish community.

My non-council nomination this week was an interview with Gadi Evron on the meaning of Russia's cyberwar against Georgia and what it could mean for the future.

Read, Enjoy. Be Informed.

The Razor appears to be another of the "blame America first" crowd. Everything horrible that happens in the world is ultimately traced to something the U.S. has done. I don't think we should have supported Kosovo independence but Russia would have invaded Georgia regardless.

Regarding Biden, where would anyone get the preposterous idea that he is a Washington outsider? He epitomizes DC insider politics.
