As the Watcher's Council awaits a new watcher, council members have been rotating hosting the weekly voting. This week many thanks to The Glittering Eye for hosting.
1 Wolf Howling
"Obama, Criminalizing Politics & Thinking The Unthinkable"
- Wolf Howling reflects on the number of left/liberal/Democratic groups who are considering charging their political opponents with war crimes.
2 Rhymes With Right
"Gravel: Support Terrorist By Terrorizing Prosecutor And His Family"
- Rhymes with Right discusses Democratic fruitcake, one time Presidential candidate and former Alaaka governor, Mike Gravel who suggested to followers that they harass the prosecutor of the Al-Arian case.
3 Done With Mirrors
"Laid to Rest"
- Done with Mirrors reflects on Alexander Solzhenitsyn, and how he didn't fit with any neat categories in the American experience.
4 The Razor
"Rolling Stone: Size Doesn't Matter"
- The Razor writes about Rolling Stone's decision to change its size and recalls his history with the magazine, which was never quite alternative enough for his tastes.
5 Soccer Dad
"Not up to the standards of the national enquirer *UPDATED*"
- My own entry is about the MSM's reluctance to cover the John Edwards scandal. Frankly I don't care that they didn't cover it, except for the hypocrisy it displayed. I don't care what John Edwards did or didn't do. I do find it remarkable that it took this to disqualify Edwards for consideration for a high level appointment. That says a lot about the Democratic party.
6 The Colossus of Rhodey
"Great -- One More Thing for Which to Blame the Jews."
- Hube takes issue with those who blame the Jews for all that's wrong with the world. He suggests that Jews be blamed for having a disproportionate number of Nobel Prize winners and other positive attributes.
7 Bookworm Room
"Who would you want to spend time with"
- Bookworm Room looks at both Sens. Obama and McCain and asks simply, "Who's more likable?" I suspect that Gov. Bush won a similar contest with VP Gove eight years ago.
8 Cheat-Seeking Missiles
"Edwards Fesses Up; Let The Games Begin"
- Cheat Seeking Missiles does a more in depth investigation of the issue I covered: the media's failure to report on the Edwards scandal.
9 The Glittering Eye
"Civis Americanus Sum"
- The Glittering Eye uses the ffamous story about dimensions, Flatlands as an example to suggest that perhaps the European intelligentsia live in a different dimenson from the American world.
-
10 Joshuapundit
"Fear And Loathing: The Psychosexual Element In Islam"
- Joshuapundit investigates how Mohammed's (known) history played a role in forming the Islamic attitudes towards women. May I just add that much of the Islamic world - along with China an India - has the lowest ratio of women in comparison with men, suggesting that infanticide might well be practiced there too.

My non-council nominee this week is:
The Hashmonean
"Common Denominator: Israel at Every Level is Prepared to Strike Iran"
- The Hashmonean explains why Israel isn't waiting for American permission to strike at Iran. In other words, the U.S.'s recent decision not to provide Israel with weaponry to make such a strike earlier won't affect Israeli decision making.
