23 months

This morning at 1:15 AM she turned 100 weeks.

Her big sister reads to her last week.

She loves playing in the dishwasher. We wish she wouldn't.

Yesterday we went fruit picking. She became very possessive of her bag with plums and peaches.

One of the enduring enduring mysteries about her, is that she'll find a long implement (say a brother's plastic lightsabre) and start waving it at everyone going "Badoo, badoo, badoo." We have no idea what it means. And she's been doing this for months.

Communication improves all the time. Often if we tell her a new phrase, she'll happily repeat it. It's clear that she understands more and more all the time.

Last night there was a minor crisis at bath time. I had taken a regular baby towel and she tells me "Barney towel." I couldn't find a Barney towel. A Simba towel was not an adequate substitute. I wasn't sure what to do, until my wife recommended the "Elmo towel." Given that she's familiar with Elmo, the substitution worked.

More and more she expresses herself. As she approaches the age of two, she's become more likely to throw a tantrum when she's displeased with us. (There's a reason they call it the "terrible twos.") Still most of the time she expresses things with words and is absolutely delightful.

She has a habit that I wish she wouldn't do. If she wants me and she's at the top of a flight of stairs, she'll lean for me. Her trust in me is flattering - but it's also a bit disconcerting.

She still says "gusting" a lot and it's not only when her diaper's dirty. The other day she was drawing with chalk and her hands were blue and "gusting" until I washed them off.

She likes to ask for "bagins" (not bags.) Often she won't sit and eat and ask for a "bagin" for her cereal. She loves apple sauce. When she asks for "Appledau" she'll also ask for a "poon" because, obviously she can't eat it without one.

At the end of Shabbos lunch we were looking for her. She had been quiet for a bit too long. Our 17 year old found her in the hallway on top of her blanket, sound asleep.

Sometimes she joins us in our bed and then she asks for "bollu," a small pillow, that for some unexplained reason resides on my bed. She doesn't like to go anywhere in the house without her "wankee."

Wow, it's been almost two years. Hard to believe.

Very cute. I don't have little ones in the house anymore so I love these kind of posts.
