What is the Carnival of Maryland? Why it's a blogging carnival about Maryland. A blogging carnival is a collection of blog posts focusing on a certain theme. So here we have different approaches to Maryland from many different bloggers.
Plus in Here comes the Sun she has some beautiful sunrises.
And in unexpected guests for lunch she notes captures some of the local fauna.
Maybe I should have named this section The Ridger.
The DC Traveler writes about Body Worlds 2 at the Maryland Science Center. I'm not at all comfortable with the exhibit. He's correct that it's not for the squeamish. (The post does contain photographs of the exhibit, viewer discretion is advised.)
What's new in Maryland has details about two upcoming promotions at Camden Yards. I think that the prizes are $50,000 and $100,000 not millions.
This week we took a trip up to Aberdeen to watch the Iron Birds. We actually saw more rain than baseball, but we did take in some of the latter.
Queercents plans to spend her money elsewhere in protest as she explains in An Open Letter to the State of Maryland: How to Lose the LGBTQ Dollar
In That sucking sound you've been hearing all week, Blogger 1947 protests the latest invasion of privacy by the government.
Inside Charm City who's had some breaking stories, was the first (I know of) to blog about the latest investigations into Sheila Dixon's conflicts of interest. Though I suspect that I don't much agree with Mayor Dixon or with Sen. Currie, I've found the news reporting about suspected wrongdoings on their parts to be excessive. In the case of Mayor Dixon we were already treated to an investigation that turned up nothing worth prosecuting. She complained the other day that the prosecutors could leak anything but she was restricted about what she could say. Barring an actual indictment, I don't see the point of reporting these investigations. If no indictments are forthcoming, Currie and Dixon will have unjustified stains on their records.
Ex-Marylander Ft. Totten Weekly (otherwise known as Crablaw) expresses his satisfaction with the Heller decision. I too am not likely to own a gun ever. But I notice that the fellow who held me up in 1995 wasn't much worried about Maryland's strict gun control laws.
Pillage Idiot notes that due to high fuel costs, Montgomery County schools are considering forcing students to show up in go-carts. Hey it says so in the Washington Post.
Here are a few I check out.
There's the Washington Post's Maryland Moment. I think it's too much in synch with the Demcoratic Party, but then I'd feel that way about the general coverage too.
Charm City Moms, written by Kate Shatzkin, has generously asked for some contributions from me.
The best local MSM sports blog is Bill Ordine's O by the way.
Orioles Central expresses his concerns (and hopes) for the team with its unsettled shortstop situation and injury related bullpen problems.
Oriole Post laments the unfortunate start to the Nationals Series.
Hey, hon! Nice job. Thanks!
