Where's the culture?
At the very least there's been
Elliott Spitzer,
Laura Richardson and, now
Rep. Jim Cooper. All of them have a "D" after their names. (Yes, I know that
Jim Gibbons is a Republican.) It seems that, unlike 2006, 2008 is the year of the Democratic scandal and yet I haven't heard the catchphrase "culture of corruption" in connection to this election season. Why not?
The NYT that got so exercised over the
leak of Valerie Plame's name, then disregarded the request of the CIA and
revealed the name of one of its agents! I wonder if the Times will get upset by the treatment of
Scooter Libby's successor. (via

In other words, many of the hot button topics that steered the coverage of political races two years ago are now being ignored. It's not just that the
media is going easy on Sen. Obama.

applies just as much to our supposedly neutral watchdogs - the media - as it does to their openly partisan colleagues.

Extremely hypocritical for a party that denied their own voters the right to be counted in this year's primary. I guess voter disenfranchisement is ok if democrats do it and if it serves the purpose of handing a "victory" to the preferred candidate of DNC honchos like Kerry, Dean, Brazile etc.
