In related stuff, Jack's Shack was looking for the best breakup songs.

Did you know that Rolling Stone just came out with a list of the 100 greatest guitar songs of all time?

Can't believe we actually got 30 of them! Thanks for the lavish praise; admittedly my musical knowledge is only part encyclopedic, and part "wikipedic"!

The theme must be songs that include some form of scat singing...?

Posted by: Clayton at June 23, 2008 12:18 PM

5. Lady Marmalade is the actual name of the song. I remembered this prompted by an email from SD, but I still can't come up with the name of the singer/group.

Posted by: Gail at June 23, 2008 12:19 PM

Wasn't it originally done by Labelle? Then there was the remake that came out a couple years ago, but I don't know who did that one.

"Rama lama ding dong" is also used in Bad Detective by the Coasters.

20. Sly and the Family Stone I think. Can't remember the song. Wanna Take You Higher?

30. Clayton, Black Dog has nine "Ah"s. The clue only has eight.

About 13, the phrase in The Streak is "Look it that, look at that," not "boggie-dy, boogie-dy."

Posted by: Yitzchak Goodman at June 23, 2008 1:36 PM

On 13, there are several lyrics sites that have it as "boggie-dy, boogie-dy", so I think the clue was on firm ground.

OTOH, I always thought #6 was "Rrruuuusss!". As in that Moabite gal we read about a couple of weeks ago. :-)

I should have got #2, how stupid of me.

Thanks for the shout out. That Rolling Stone list looks pretty good. I'll have to spend a few minutes reviewing it more closely, but from what I saw I agree with your assessment.

I had a moment of blind panic when I realized how many of those nonsense phrases I instantly recognized. This goes a long way to explaining why my brain is too full to handle new information about work, family and household!

Ahhhh... I think I've got it. :) (thanks to a hint from SD)

They don't write 'em like that anymore, indeed...
