You know the drill. Here are the lyrics. What do they all have in common? And an additional question: What's the point of origin? (The question's a bit obscure but I can't give the theme away, but I think you'll figure it out.)
Because of the holiday of Shavuos, there will be no Musical Monday next week, and it's scheduled to resume at Elie's Expositions in two weeks!

15) A tombstone bar in a jukejoint car
16) Wind was blowing, time stood still
17) I had nothing to do on this hot afternoon
18) And I've walked these streets in the mad house asylum
19) Millions of people living as foes
20) Behind those doors, it's a wilder ride
21) You know you've changed and your words they lie
I recently saw that Ann Althouse had a post about driving songs. She linked to the VH1 list of top driving songs. But in her discussion and the list, I thought there were quite a few missing. (I can't say I was familiar with every choice on the VH1 list.) There was no Backroads by Ricky Van Shelton (my guess is that these lists give short shrift to country songs) or Runnin' down a dream by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
Any other good driving songs?

I'll get back with some MM answers shortly...
Posted by: Elie at June 2, 2008 9:20 AM6 - The Glory of Love - Chicago
7 - Right Down the Line - Gerry Rafferty
9 - Trouble - Lindsay Buckingham
15 - Lido Shuffle - Boz Scaggs
19 - Crazy Train - Ozzy Osbourne
Clayton got all the ones I'd guessed so far, plus a couple of others.
Have a possible guess on the theme but I'd want to see a couple more songs ID'ed first...
Posted by: Elie at June 2, 2008 9:58 AM2.Easy Lover-Phil Collins and Phillip Bailey
17.You Wear it Well-Rod Stewart
19.Crazy Train-Ozzy Osbourne
Posted by: Laura at June 2, 2008 12:52 PMHere are some good driving songs:
Automobile by John Prine
Drivin' by the Kinks
No Particular Place to Go by Chuck Berry
Drivin' Sister by Mott the Hoople
Semi Truck by Comander Cody
Willin' by Little Feat
OK, my guess for the theme is first solo songs by artists who previously had hits with a group. Which would mean that #6 must be Peter Cetera solo and not Chicago, though like Clayton I remembered it as the latter.
Posted by: Elie at June 2, 2008 1:24 PM16 - Solsbury Hill - Peter Gabriel
Elie's right, #6 is Peter Cetera, not Chicago. It's easy to get them confused -- like trying to remember whether a song is by Genesis, or Phil Collins... :-)
Posted by: Clayton at June 2, 2008 3:47 PMIN the instructions I also asked for the point of origin, once you figured out the theme. You've already given it for #6 and I suppose for #16.
