Musical monday #35

Sorry, I posted this late.

You know the drill. All the songs are united by something. A theme or common denominator. Your mission, should you choose it is to identify the songs and figure out the theme. Good luck.

If you haven't taken a look at last week's Musical Monday #34, please do. It's the classic of the genre. Yes I know the answers have been posted, but don't look in the comments. Check it out, you won't be disappointed. And remember next Monday to look at Elie's Expositions where it's his turn.

And without further ado, here's #35.

2) She played around and teased me with her carefree devil eyes

15) Now it's "us", now it's "we"
16) I played with your heart, got lost in the game
17) The DJ knows my voice now
18) Plant a rose, you can plant any one of those
UPDATE: I forgot a few
19) You broke my heart, 'Cause I couldn't dance
(I have heard that this fit the pattern, but I haven't found anything online confirming it)
20) Love is a losing game
21) An empty house, a broken fairy tale

12) "Gimme Some Lovin'", Steve Winwood, Blues Brothers

Posted by: Elie at February 26, 2008 9:21 AM

10. Delta Dawn - Helen Reddy - others have done it as well.

Posted by: Gail at February 26, 2008 9:57 AM

I think Delta Dawn was also done by Tanya Tucker, leaving open the possibility of double initialed singers as the theme...

I just remembered #14 b/c I looked up this song a few weeks ago for one of my MMs!

14) "Incense and Peppermints", The Strawberry Alarm Clock

Still no guess on the theme.

And thank you so much what you wrote about last week's MM!

10.Delta Dawn
12.Gimme Some Lovin-The Spencer Davis Group

6 - "It's My Party", Leslie Gore

Posted by: Clayton at February 26, 2008 2:10 PM

Er, that's Lesley Gore... just in case spelling is important.

Posted by: Clayton at February 26, 2008 2:31 PM

I have a guess at the theme. Are these songs all sung by teenagers? Steve Winwood was the lead singer of the Spencer Davis Group when they recorded "Gimme Some Lovin'" and was in his teens at the time, as was Lesley Gore when she recorded "It's My Party". I believe Paul Anka first became popular as a teen also, though I don't know about that particular song.
