The Watcher's Council has spoken.
This week's winning council post was The Freddy's 7 posted here at Soccer Dad. It was my take on the inexcusably sympathetice treatment given America's #1 hustler, Al Sharpton. Here's Contentions.James Kirchik with a pity observation on the not so reverend reverend.
On second thought, any politician worth his salt ought to be consulting Sharpton, whose parsing and inability to answer a simple question prove him to be a valuable political consultant.
The runner up post was America Derangement Syndrome -- Or, Yes, You Can Call Them Unpatriotic at Bookworm Room, which was a review of book by an intellectually honest leftist who quesitons the motives of some of his fellow travelers.
There was a tie for third between The Best Years of Their Lives: Hollywood and Franklin's War at Big Lizards comparing the way Hollywood has acted in two different eras toward a government involved in a war. Cheat Seeking Missiles had the absolutely best titled entry with Did Bush Get Jamie Lynn Pregnant? an incisive look as to how the media twist statistics to achieve their desired result.
On the non-council side of things Exploding Myths by Treppenwitz, in which he skewers various assumptions about the Middle East, was the winning entry.
The runner up was a review of the ups and downs (mostly downs) of the LA Times at Patterico's Pontifications aptly titled Patterico's Los Angeles Dog Trainer Year in Review 2007
Thanks to my fellow watchers for not only selecting my post but the non-council post I nominated. I am honored.

UPDATE: On a sad note, one of the Watcher's Alumni has been killed. Major Andrew Olmsted who was a member of the council was killed yesterday in Iraq. Major Olmsted's politics were not mine but I couldn't help but be impressed at his intellectual honesty. I supported the war but didn't serve. He didn't support it - at least not the way it was run - but served and paid the highest price. At times like this words are entirely inadequate.
