This week's council entries have been submitted.
A Deeply Flawed NIE Changes Nothing & Everything - I have to admit that when I read of the NIE, I thought that it wasn't as political as its critics were claiming. Wolf Howling makes a convincing case that indeed the NIE was tailored to suit an agenda and not one that I agree with.
What the NIE on Iran's Nuclear Weapons Development Doesn't Say - By focusing on what the NIE doesn't say, The Glittering Eye took a rather sober approach arguing that there weren't any great revelations in the NIE. However, I don't find it as reassuring as he did.
U.S. "Stingy" on Foreign Aid - The Colossus of Rhodey refutes a charge that the United States doesn't give its "fair share" of foreign aid. Given that the charge comes from a man whose son and associates benefited from the corrupt use of foreign aid makes the charge reek of unintended irony.
How Kennedy Said It - Done With Mirrors compares Mitt Romney's "Mormon speech" with JFK's "Catholic speech" and finds the current candidate lacking.
Babies Having Babies: Now a Generational Problem - The Education Wonks comments on a news story about a 29 year old grandmother.
Explaining American Jews' Love for Israel and America - Bookworm Room goes to a talk that explores commitments of Jews to Israel and to America and explains why the charge of dual loyalty is false.
Pearl Harbor... And 9/11 - Joshuapundit uses the 66th anniversary of Pearl Harbor to compare the nation's responses to both attacks and finds the current response lacking.
Another Sign: Islam Is a Human Rights Violation - Rhymes With Right writes about a contemporary case of apostasy.
Hoodwinkers and Their Codependents: In Search of Intelligent Intelligence on Iran - Big Lizards takes a look at the folks who brought us the NIE and why we should be skeptical of them.
Release of Iran NIE a Remarkable Testament to American Exceptionalism - Right Wing Nut House argues that the good of the NIE is what it shows about transparency in government.
Burying a Hate Crime - Cheat Seeking Missiles looks at the Colorado church shootings and notes that angle that's missing from most of the reporting: they were anti-Christian hate crimes.
Making NIE - I looked at what made the 2007 NIE so different from the 2005 NIE and some of the implications. The specifics were not readily apparent from the initial reporting.
Other Watcher summaries, Wolf Howling, The Glittering Eye, JoshuaPundit.
Read, Enjoy. Be Informed.
