At 1:15 AM this morning she turned 66 weeks old.
She isn't walking. Yet. Sometimes she takes steps - some have counted as many as 10 - but walking is still not her preferred method of locomotion. She does stand on her own, and when she does, we try to coax her to walk. Usually she just looks around for people willing to give her the appropriate amount of attention for standing. Sometimes she'll even grace us with a few steps as reward for the attention.
She'll bend her head down so that I can say "Where's ----?" and pop her head up when I say "Oh there she is. Peek a boo!" Yes, she has me trained. Sometimes she'll throw her head back so I can "poof" or tickle her neck.
The random sounds she makes are sounding less random. The possibility of real words is there. Even, rarely, a few words strung together as a sentence.
One odd bit of behavior I've seen is after I've changed her, she'll start kicking her legs furiously shaking her whole body and laughing, enjoying it.
She still doesn't have much patience for eating. I often have to chase her around her high chair trying to get her to eat. Fortunately there are things she eats by herself.
Though she still prefers scooting around in a sitting position using two legs and a hand to move, I suspect by the next time I report, she'll be walking regularly. The scooting is useful. She seems to have developed it so she could move and hold an object at the same time. And by now, she's very quick at it.
She really hates spending extended periods in the car. And she often doesn't much like getting dressed. She loves baths. But she doesn't like barrettes. She loves her family most of the time, except when they get too intrusive.
What I don't understand is when I come to get her from the crib she doesn't reach for me or do anything to make it easier to get her out. She just waits for me to reach in and get her. (If she's on the floor if she wants me she will usually reach out and grunt in her inimitable fashion that she wants to be picked up.)
Her hair is still light and is slightly curly. She has neither super curly hair or straight hair. She's somewhere between her two sisters on the curliness scale.
I'm back to #3 on her list of favorite people.
