At 1:15 AM this morning she turned 61 weeks old.
Babies, when they're learning to walk often have Wily E. Coyote moments. It's the time when they're standing and holding onto something and let go. They'll stand there unaffected. But the moment they look down and see that they're not holding onto anything, gravity takes over and they fall.
Some of our other children have been like that, but she isn't. Pretty much as soon as she lets go she sits down. She doesn't walk - unless she's holding on - though I'm convinced that she could. Her preferred mode of transportation is propelling herself across the floor in a seated position. Now she does that mostly with her feet and not her hands at all.
She says "Abba," a lot. I still don't think that she always means me. But when I'm around she does and she expects a response. Which leads to "Abba" "baby*" "Abba" "baby*" etc.
(*I say her name, not "baby.")
Despite the many toys we've gotten her she has a special affinity for phones. Whether they are cordless or cell she really enjoys pushing buttons and occasionally holding them to her mouth and saying "hello" (or more like "heyyo.")
She has a doll that she puts into a toy carseat. She often treats her baby with care. But the moment it's in the car seat she'll start to hit it. Hitting is a sign of affection not aggression, still we're working on teaching her to "make nice" instaed of hitting.
She has little patience for eating. Sometimes she doesn't much like sleeping either. Maybe it's because she likes coming up to our room and getting undivided attention.
She smiles a lot and usually seems pretty content, though she really likes being held a lot too.
And of course she makes everyone around her very, very happy.
