After the most recent edition, I wondered: would Haveil Havalim be better bi-weekly? Usually over the course of the week, if the host wishes, I'll contribute suggestions. But during the recent 3-week layoff, there really was a full complement of posts with no input from me. I'm wondering if Haveil Havalim would be better as a bi-weekly carnival.
What do you think?
Also I'd like to acknowledge the graciousness of SerAndEz for allowing me to announce Haveil Havalim from his website. (I already had posting privileges. And I think he'd suggested it to me a few weeks ago.)
haveil havalim, blog carnival.

Posted by: Sammy Benoit at October 8, 2007 12:18 PMthats tough, I dont know. Bi-weekly would be better for the hosts, but overall I think weekly is a good format. But maybe bi weekly would end up being better.
Posted by: Chaim at October 8, 2007 12:27 PMFar be it for me to comment authoratively seeing as I've only been back blogging a few weeks, but I had been hoping for additional structure last time this came up a while ago.
I think a carnival that is bi-weekly with a maximum 2 posts per blog would make the carnival even higher quality than it alread is. Personally, I often don't get around to submitting because until late in the week I don't have enough posts to choose something I think is good, and by then it is friday and late / rude etc.
What appeals to me about your watchers council there is the high quality posts by virtue of the limits I imagine, or people saving their best for the carnival, but this is just an opinion. A two week carnival certainly allows for wider participation I think. Also using the carnival form should be mandatory and the cut off should be friday, but I've been feeling like a fascist lately so maybe this is affecting my opinions / severeity lol.
Posted by: saus at October 8, 2007 12:34 PMSammy - How many of the submissions were from me?
Chaim - That's exactly the conundrum. I think that you're right that bi-weekly would be easier for the hosts. J-Pix is bi-weekly and Kosher Cooking Carnival is monthly; so a carnival need not be weekly to maintain continuity.
Saus - I don't impose limits, though, I suppose I should. Carnival of the Insanities limits bloggers to one post per. (Practically speaking I don't include more than 3 posts from a single blogger, else things would get too crazy. Practices vary by host.)
Your idea of a Friday cutoff is good and I've insisted that people use the submission form. (BlogCarnival produces an "Insta-carnival" for cutting and pasting purposes.)
Posted by: soccer dad at October 8, 2007 1:20 PMI think bi-weekly will provide too many posts and too many submissions effecting too much work for the host to decide which to include and which to reject.
The weekly edition is already full enough. Sure a bi-weekly is full without extra input, but I bet you had to reject a lot of posts. And if not, maybe a lot of people did not bother subitting posts because they were busy with the holidays.
