The Council has spoken and declared that Gratefully Not Dead: Iraq Civilian and US Military Deaths Plummet by Big Lizards, an excellent analysis of casualty figures that shows that the "surge" is working is the winner among Council members and that That's Propa-tainment by Jules Crittenden was the winner among non-council membrs.
The runners up were Right Wing Nut House's Man without a party among Council members and Seraphic Secret's The Hollywood Surge is failing, an excellent companion piece to Jules Crittenden's.
With the recent discussions (often dishonest and hysterical) about Blackwater, it's worth recalling Done with Mirror's friend, Kat, and what she said it was like to be a contractor in Iraq. (True she wasn't with a security firm, but she describes what being a contractor means.) This is one of the great things about being a member of the Watcher's Council, reading others who are often ahead of the curve. For a more recent view of Blackwater, here's Max Boot.
If you're a blogger and would like to participate in next week's competition, why not follow the rules here and submit an entry to Mr. Watcher?
