The rules are figure out the songs. Figure out the theme. No fair Googling even if I did it to make sure I got the lyrics right! Next week's scheduled host - Elie's Expositions who also hosted last week, as we alternate weeks.
Like Elie's last week, the grouping is significant.

Here's a few I know, and from that I can take a guess at the theme:
4) Fleetwood Mac, "Sara" (now who's getting in the Tusk clues!)
11) Aerosmith, "Dream On"
(For 14 I keep wanting to say "Don't Do Me Like That" by Tom Petty, but I think the lyric there is "someone's gonna tell you lies, cut you down to size".)
17) Eagles, "Best of My Love"
18) Another group's different song from about 1978, "You've Got The Best of My Love"
So from the above, I'd guess the theme is "song-homonyms"; i.e., two different songs with the same title. And thus songs 5-6 must be called "Sara(h)" and song 12, "Dream On", but I can't ID the quotes just now.
Great theme!!
Posted by: Elie at September 24, 2007 01:24 PMOK, #19 is "Brandy" by Looking Glass. That should help me get #20, I guess, but somehow it doesn't!
Posted by: Elie at September 24, 2007 03:41 PMNow that someone's revealed the theme, I hear #2 in my head and that is Gloria from U2.
Posted by: Laura at September 24, 2007 04:22 PMThat should help me get #20, I guess, but somehow it doesn't!
Oh, right. So 20 is "Mandy" from the author of "You
Deserve a Break Today." Can't stand that song. "Mandy," I mean. The Shadows of Knight also had a hit with Gloria. (You should end on a positive note.)
Barry Manilow sang it, but didn't write it, which is how it is relevant. And the guesses are shaping up nicely.
Posted by: soccer dad at September 24, 2007 05:14 PMOK, now I'm proud that I didn't get #20! There was a period in my mid-teens when I actually liked that song, I shamefully admit. Good to know that I've finally been completely successful in blocking it out! :-}
