Since the children have been getting older, they've really been eating more and more challah every Shabbos, so instead of making two smaller challahs, I now produce to batches of dough (in the bread machine - I'm no purist -) and use one to make a larger challah and a second batch for two smaller, or what used to be "regular," sized challahs.
I've tried making 6 braided challahs, but have had little success. I never do it right. The braids (I make) are real messes, however the challah still tastes great.
Even if the braids are disasters, I still think that the challah looks pretty good.
Before it's been "egged" and baked.
and after too!
