Council speak 06/08/2007

I am honored that this week the watchers council voted my post about the espionage that help Israel prevail in the Six Day War 3 spies and Six Days the top council post of the week. Thanks so much!

The runner-up was also a review of the Six Day War. Bookworm Room's wonderful Six Day War in Real Time recalls the actual reporting of the war from her mother's collection of Life Magazine. When we read the cynicism with which the media treats Israel nowadays, it's worth noting that it wasn't always that way. Bookworm Room's fine work also earned a very complimentary mention at NRO's military blog, The Tank.

Among non-council posts, Four Modest Proposals for Getting of Iraq by Dan Simmons was the winner. It isn't just four modest proposals, but a lot of serious background into how the war is being fought. (This was my friend JoshuaPundit's nominee. You should check out his D-Day remembrance Loyalty and Love: D-Day 63 years later.)

My non-council nominee - also about the Six Day War - History News Network's Deja Vu's Six Day War - Israeli Perspective was the runner up. While Israel is currently viewed as a major power in the Middle East, 40 years ago the war put Israel in a very tenuous position.

Like what you read, check out the complete results. And if you blog and wish to participate follow these rules and submit something of your own.
