Remember Karin Friedemann, utterer of the immortal words "Every Jewish family in America that has any property in the Holy Land needs to be prosecuted as part of an organized criminal network"? Guess who just linked approvingly to one of her articles!
Click to enlarge image. Here is an excerpt (not the passage Juan chose) from the article he likes so much:
[Charles] Jacobs' pro-Israel advocacy organization spearheaded the campaign to vilify the Islamic Republic of Sudan, and provided huge quantities of lurid, both popular and pseudo-academic material, in which Sudan is described as a "terrorist, genocidal" state engaged in a "holy war." Charles Jacobs' carefully designed "PR puff pieces" about "slavery" in Sudan have managed to secure national media coverage. While pro-Palestine activists have long struggled to halt public funding of Israel, the dishonest "Save Darfur!" campaign, put together by DP friends and trainees, is the quickest divestment success in history. Sudan divestment resolutions have become law in Iowa and are in the process of approval in 12 states. The JCRC coordinating with the David Project has further poisoned human rights discourse with this effort to turn Arab and African Americans against each other.

Juan Cole is an especially vile individual. So as far as he and Karin Friedemann are concerned, Sudan really isn't a terrorist, genocidal state which practices slavery. These are just accusations made by those wily, manipulative Jews trying to divide Arabs and African Americans, as well as focus attention off of the truly oppressed palestinian masses.
Posted by: Laura at June 4, 2007 8:18 PMJoachim Martillo, friedman's wife, has arrived in Professor Cole's comment section!
Wow. All we need now is Finkelstein to post a laudatory comment and the bases will be loaded for a posting by David Duke.
Posted by: Anonymous at June 5, 2007 1:31 PMI noticed Martillo's appearance. His comment provides a link to a page featuring a nasty anti-Semitic cartoon and a blurb identifying him as an "expert in Jewish studies." Cole tends to censor comments with a heavy hand. It will be interesting to see if he notices.
Posted by: Yitzchak Goodman at June 5, 2007 1:52 PMSo let me get this straight. Friedemann is stepping up to protect Khartoum against "slander"? Is she getting paid by Khartoum, among the least morally defensible regimes on the planet?
Conservative critics of Friedemann on this point should make common cause with fellow conservative activist George Clooney, who is doing the right thing on this issue in contradiction to the moonbattery of Friedemann.
