At 1:15 AM today she turned 39 weeks old. That makes her 3/4 of a year old.
This was one of the big months in terms of her development.
She hasn't quite started crawling. But she is finding new ways to move. She sits up with ease, and last night in the crib, actually pulled herself into a standing position. (Of course we have some mixed emotions about that since she was supposed to be going to sleep at the time!)
She's gotten very good at rotating around an axis, whether she's in a sitting position or on her stomach. And she does reach for things. She hasn't quite gotten everything together with crawling and is more likely to move backwards when she attempts to crawl, but she can get around within a small radius of her initial position.
On the downside, like two of her siblings, she's showing signs of being susceptible to ear infections. As of now, she's scheduled to get tubes in another month. You hate for your baby to need any surgery; but you also don't want her to suffer. So a month from now, if the infections persist, she has an appointment with the ENT.
On a personal note, she's always shown a preference for her mother. That preference has become even more pronounced. If I get her in the morning to change her, she won't stay still and twists for my wife. In other circumstances if I take her she will start leaning back towards her mother, immediately. I rank about #4 her book; two of our older children also rank higher than me.
She seems to recognized certain sounds and songs. She'll clap to "Yaaay" and sometimes repeats the word. She claps her hands to "If you're happy and you know it" too.
All and all she's growing up so nicely and becoming a lot of fun. (I can get her to laugh by putting my mouth to her neck and "poofing" her.)
