Council speak 01/05/07

The Council has spoken and the first winners of 2007 are council member Right Wing Nut House's Religion and Politics: Intolerance Is Growing
and non-council member the Belmont Club's The Blogoshpere at war. The former is an examination of how religious (and anti-religious) intolerance is become a part of political discourse both on the left and right. The latter is an in depth examination of the way news is disseminated in the MSM on one hand and in the blogosphere on the other. It's importance (IMHO) is reflected by the fact that it received over 4 total points, which shows that quite a few watchers felt as I did.

Runners up in the Council category were The American Future's the mysterious Mr. Ritter and Andrew olmsted's You keep using that word. The first of those is about Scott Ritter once a voice that Saddam still posed a threat until he changed his mind. Now he's gone to the Walt/Mearsheimer camp of Israel lobby paranoia. The second is an amusing investigation into the uses of rhetoric and euphemism.

Among the non-council posts the Fourth Rail's the State of the Jihad, which appears to be a bit healthier than I think is good.

Other Council Stuff

non-council entry Tiger Hawk's Regarding Risk provoked the Glittering Eye's The House Always wins.

Done with Mirrors' Hypocrites presents something of a mirror image to Kesher Talk's the unimagined milestone.

Finally, did you know that the Watcher's Council has its WOW awards? Now you do.

The winner among Council members for 2006 was the recently departed Gates of Vienna and the winner among non-council members was the Anchoress.
