Looking over the transcript of today's encounter between Representative Cardin and Lieutenant Governor Steele on Meet the Press, it's hard to get a sense of who won.
There are a few cases where Steele danced instead of answered fair questions. Why not say which of the sitting judges he would have voted against. He could have easily said Justice Ginsburg without too much risk. :-) (The question about the Steele Democrat was just plain silly. In Maryland a Republican needs support from Democratic voters.) On the other hand some of Cardin's responses seemed uninformed.
Here's some blogospheric reaction to the debate:
Poliblog noticed a gaffe that Steele made.
Amygdala wasn't impressed with Steele's performance.
Freedom Eden, on the other hand, was impressed with Steele, citing the same quotes as Amygdala.
Carol Platt Liebau, on the other hand felt that Steele "...wiped the floor with Ben Cardin this morning on 'Meet the Press.' "
Dean Barnett agrees in his Sunday morning wrapup at Townhall.
Oliver Willis, no surprise, saw the opposite result and notes that Steele futures were down over the course of the debate at Tradesports.
And, again, not surprisingly HotAir liked Steele.
The Political Pit Bull generally liked Steele's performance but doesn't think that he managed to damage Cardin at all.
Keeler Political Report was unimpressed with Cardin but mentions the latest Washington Post polls that show both Steele and Ehrlich trailing by 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Technorati tags: Tim Russert, Ben Cardin, michael-steele.
