Is It Permissible For A Jew to Vote Republican?

Offhand, I don't know of any rabbi who tackles the question in quite that way, but How Orthodox Jews should Vote responds to a post from the NJDC blog that starts off with:

Jews, and liberal Jews in particular don’t and won’t vote Republican because GOP values are not Jewish cultural values. To wit: Jews believe (Talmud) that we should be responsible for each other.
Personally, I haven't heard such one-sided generalities offered as political argument since elections in high school.

How Orthodox Jews should Vote offers a point-by-point rebuttal to such scintillationg summaries of GOP positions as

o guns are more worthy of protection than gunshot victims
By all means, vote for Democrats, Republicans...whatever--but "arguments" such as these, described as "excellent" by the NJDC, is not the kind of stuff you should be wasting your time reading.
