I missed last week's recounting of the Council winners so with no further ado here are the winners for September 22, 2006.
The top council post of the week was ‘You'll Never Know What We Did’ by Done With Mirrors an excellent bit of reporting of the role contractors play in rebuilding Iraq. While it sounds dangerous it doesn't sound nearly as bad as what Bob Woodward is getting attention for saying this week.
The non-council winner was Just Outside Westminster Cathedral Today ... by Joee Blogs -- A Catholic Londoner, again another example of blogs reporting what the newspapers won't.
The runner up council post was That Was Not a "Blunder." It's Just An Excuse to Kill Infidels by Gates of Vienna an illustration of how the outrage with the Pope was more calculated than sincere. The runner up non-council post was What Did You Do This Summer? Murdoc Online, a look at the soldiers and the necessary jobs they are doing. A reminder of the dangerous, great and important work American soldiers are doing, especially in SW Asia.

The Council winners for the Week of September 29 were - for the council- my Unhinged or Calculated narrowly edged out JOSHUAPUNDIT's real Peace Proposal for the Middle East and the Sundries Shack's No Commitment.
Chris Wallace said that this week that he felt that ex-President Clinton's anger was real. Maybe it was. But I still believe that Clinton was waiting for a trigger.
Joshuapundit's post looked to solve real issues in the Middle East, not just the New York Times belief that Sec Rice must tell Israel "... they need to immediately end targeted killings and halt all settlement construction."
And the Sundries Shack entry looked at whether the West really was committed to winning.
The winning non-council post was Isaac Schrödinger's Fear and Loathing in the Land of the Pure. Given that the post isn't mere punditry, but a documentation of Isaac's case to fight for his freedom and against deportation and a likely death sentence in Pakistan, it is not an entertaining read, but an important one. The runner up was the Anchoress's request for Civility in political discourse.
