House of Joy reflects on the realization that an old boyfriend is also a blogger. Who blogs in the same circles she did. I haven't noticed an analagous situation myself. But even if I did, I wasn't close enough to any one (or few) time dates, that encountering them now would make me uneasy.
A Whispering Soul wonders about crazy things people do for love.
In my own case I had dated someone on a few consecutive weekends and then we went out Thanksgiving and were planning to go out again on Sunday. Friday (that's Black Friday) I went to Macy's and they were selling Max; the large English sheepdog from "A little mermaid."
I never did anything like that. Buy a stuffed animal for someone I was dating. Truthfully, I never reached the point where that would have been appropriate. But this time I did it.
For Shabbos, I went with a friend to married friends who had a 1 1/2 year old and a newborn. While we were eating our Friday night meal, the toddler went into my room and brought out the oversized stuffed animal. The topic then became who was the stuffed animal for. It was for a girl, I allowed. The other single friend said something like I should send him an invitation.
I must have told him to shut up and turned several shades of red.
But when the time came, I did send him an inviation!

Unless I'm mistaken, I was the single friend.
As I recall, what I said was something along the lines that knowing you, if you had gone to the extent of buying the stuffed animal--this was the one.
I don't recall your reaction.
But I do recall coming to your chasanah...and having major car trouble on the way. I ended up having to drive my car to a mechanic nearby but still missing most of the chasanah.
