If you like subversive humor there are few better places to go than Pillage Idiot. From Brownie's admission of responsibility to a Croatian lumberjack who's channeling Monty Python he's a riot.
AbbaGav is no slouch either.
And for artwork, I can't recommend Not Quite Perfect enough. She's been on a roll recently but Shell Gem is absolutely stunning.
Meryl Yourish has a great story about her students. That inspired Daled Amos to recall an inspiring story from his teaching days.
Going back to earlier in the week, Boker Tov Boulder blogged about http://bokertov.typepad.com/btb/2006/01/jews_in_the_new.html, the disturbing stuff: being enemies of Islam, and the fun stuff: winning at the Golden Globes. Life-of-Rubin (who, by the way, is Matisyahu Central) points to George Clooney's classlessness and other shenanigans at the Golden Globe Awards.
Sever Plocker, no right winger, writing for Ynet decries the decision to give an award to "Paradise Now" in which he concludes:
As noted, Paradise Now is no Palestinian propaganda film. It has many layers and depth and many wavering characters.Posted by SoccerDad at January 20, 2006 1:53 AMIt does not take an unquestioning stance and its message is complex (even if its producers, for their own reasons, "understand" a bit too much about what drives suicide bombers and "understand" a bit too little about the damage suicide terrorism causes the Palestinians themselves).
But my argument has nothing to do with the movie, but rather the Golden Globe award ceremony. And that ceremony was turned into a political demonstration in favor of the immediate establishment of a Palestinian state "with no conditions."
In practice, the Palestinian state was born at the Golden Globe awards, by decree of the actors, producers and Hollywood entertainment reporters.
