Aretha franklin is a white male

DovBear who's so much more honest than us Republican hacks told us back in April:

The president's little unit is filled with 1970's corporate-rock songs and cheesy country ballads -- and nothing by a black artist, a woman, or from a genre less than 25 years old.

At least he was kind enough to ask:

We have to help. Our Dear Leader deserves better. Any suggestions for beefing up iPod One?

Well, yes, I believe someone has some suggestions:

Beach Boys, Beatles, let's see, Alan Jackson, Alan Jackson, Alejandro, Alison Krauss, the Angels, the Archies, Aretha Franklin, the Beatles, Dan McLean. Remember him?

Who suggested that? Why it was President Bush describing some of the music on his iPod. (Yes, he meant Don McLean.)

Well since DovBear couldn't possibly be wrong that must mean that Aretha Franklin ... is a white male. And Alison Krauss is also a man.

UPDATE: DovBear reminded me that he had a source for his conclusion about the President that he kindly provided me. The article he referred to (but didn't link to at the time of this post) didn't appear to have any original reporting and seemed, mostly, a put down of the President.

Inaccuracies aside, what arrogance and pettiness to presume to judge someone's worth by their taste in music. Nothing could be more personal and individual.

And maybe he doesn't have anything less than 25 years old because that's when music stopped being good? ( 1/2 :-) )

And what the devil are "corporate rock" groups anyhow? The Firm? 1910 Fruitgum Company? Pray tell, some examples please?

You make it sound like I made up what I wrote about the contents of the dear leaders Ipod. But go back to the original post. I didn't make it up --I cited an article written by somone who claimed to know: http://www.macminute.com/2005/04/11/bush/

Talk about cheap petty shots.

Stevie Wonder and Patti LaBelle are still black, though, right?
