World series thoughts

Dayn Perry has the five top storylines of this year's World Series. In other words, the stories within the major story of the game. My favorite is #3, The Killer B's, referring to the two Houston greats, Jeff Bagwell and Craig Biggio who, at least, have now gotten to the World Series. For them to win it with the Astros would be the perfect highlight to their career. Bagwell, due to his injury, hasn't done much this year, but he has been a great player for so long, it's nice to see him in the World Series, even if others have carried him there.

On a similar note Baseball Musings considers the similarities between Jeff Bagwell and the White Sox's Frank Thomas, in Birthday Twins. Thomas and Bagwell share the same birthday and many other career highlights including a first trip to the World Series this year.

(Ken Rosenthal also has his sub-plots.)

Finally, one class of people who annoy me are sportswriters. They often write easily refuted speculation and expect that we won't remember it. So I'd like to point to Ken Rosenthal's "White had a plan and stuck to it" in which he acknowledges that the White Sox were successful this year despite the skepticism of many in the trade, including his.
