Last year Stephan Pastis, the cartoonist who writes "Pearls Before Swine" featured a very unfunny strip. I don't say that as an insult. It wasn't funny. It wasn't meant to be. It was a touching reminder of the evil that Israel faces everyday at the hands of its enemies.
Today's strip (1/5/05) though was more in keeping with the humor of the strip. I have a strong feeling again that Mr. Pastis is showing his support for the Jewish state arguing that Israel does face real, not imagined, threats.
Read it. Let me know if you agree.
UPDATE: Stephan Pastis kindly set me straight in an e-mail. He was only seeking to make a joke. I read too much into a cartoon!
