The NY Times had a nice profile of Bucky Jacobsen a slugging first baseman/DH type with the Tacoma Rainier's. Apparently he's a mountain of a man and really nice one too. So much so a family he met during his minor league sojourns has a website about him!
A few years ago I impressed my children by catching a foul ball (on a bounce, but barehanded) hit by Frankie Figeroua, then the 1st baseman of the Bowie Baysox. It would be neat to find out what he's up to. I wonder if Frankie has a website.
Thanks for mentioning Bucky Jacobsen. I'm a charter member of The Bucky Backers (since his first year of pro ball). I'm even the owner of the BuckyBackers.com URL. I'm hardcore Bucky, and I'm thrilled that not only is he finally in the majors after all of those years, but also that he's doing so well.
A lot of people are writing about him, including this great interview posted on MLB.com two days ago:

And here's a great article where Bucky's Mom embarasses him a bit.

He REALLY is a quality guy. As nice and appreciative as they come.
Thanks again,
