Selective Quotes
From the Washington Post, July 10, 2004:
The Palestinian leader, Yasser Arafat, called the ruling "a victory for the Palestinian people, adding, "We salute this decision condemning the racist wall."
From the
New York Times, same day:
Palestinian officials immediately hailed the advisory opinion as a major legal victory. "This is an excellent decision," the Palestinian leader, Yasir Arafat, told reporters at his compound in the West Bank city of Ramallah. "This is a victory for the Palestinian people and for all the free peoples of the world."
The
BBC reported:
Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat hailed the ruling as a "victory for the Palestinian people".
"We salute this decision condemning the racist wall," Mr Arafat told reporters at his West Bank headquarters.
The way he was quoted on Saturday, one would think that Arafat was a leading advocate of democracy and human rights.
Funny today the
Jerusalem Post and
AFP both reported another aspect of Arafat's record: his advocacy of terror (and denial of his responsibility for it). Guess what? Arafat blames Israel for yesterday's terror attack in Tel Aviv. (As I pointed out to my sons, he kills, he steals, he kidnaps, why shouldn't he lie?)
And guess what? The
Washington Post and
BBC provide cover for Arafat's attempt to shift blame. The Post calls the Al Aqsa Brigades "...the military wing of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's Fatah political movement" and the BBC describes it as "...linked to...Arafat's Fatah faction."
As
honestreporting.com has noted the Fatah directly controls Al Aqsa brigades. Documentation has been provided (ironically enough) by the
BBC and other sources.
UPDATE:
Biur Chametz has more on this including
Arieh O'Sullivan's explanation as to why yesterday's attack shows that Israel's winning its war on terror. A s
imilar but more detailed article appeared in Ha'aretz.
