Moore and Censorship

For all the talk about Michael Moore and censorship in the course of his publicizing his film "Farenheit 9-11," no one has mentioned that Moore himself censored the truth. For some reason in the late 1980's he got the position of editor of Mother Jones magazine. At the time writer Paul Berman was assigned the task of reporting on development in Nicaragua with the Sandinistas in charge. Berman discovered that Ortega and co. weren't exactly creating a liberal paradise and reported his findings. Moore, more concerned with politics than the truth, spiked the article. Paul Mulshine wrote about this last year; his column is reproduced at Free Republic. Mulshine wrote his column in the wake of Moore's oafish performance at the 2003 Academy Awards. While he noted the contrast between a serious leftist (Berman) and a clown (Moore) Mulshine didn't note that the same day that Moore appeared on the Academy Awards, Berman wrote an excellent article about Sayyid Qutb, the intellectual ancestor of Osama bin Laden in the NY Times Magazine. Read the Berman article it is excellent. Then wonder why Moore's censorship of Berman never seems to be recalled by Moore's many fans. If he was so blatantly dishonest once, doesn't it suggest that he might not be terribly reliable now?
